The
Engineering Employers Federation has urged the Government to provide businesses
with clear statutory guidance on sexual orientation, religion and age
discrimination.
The
organisation fears that forthcoming equality and diversity legislation will not
work unless employers get more advice.
Peter
Martin, the EEF’s director of employment policy, supports the Government’s
intentions, but said more guidance and various amendments were needed.
He
called for the introduction of a statutory code of practice as well as clearer
regulations to reduce the risk of unnecessary litigation.
