organisation that aims to increase the understanding of alcohol and of the
public policies necessary to reduce the problems associated with its use. The
site includes valuable information relevant to the OH professional including
factsheets on alcohol and the law and in the workplace, gives details of
policies at various organisations and how to identify anyone who may have a
problem with alcohol. Worth investigating.

voluntary organisation, the site includes an on-line enquiry service and
library and can provide factsheets on all aspects of alcohol abuse. It has
useful links to other related sites. Worth a look.

Portman
Group

A
group representing drinks manufacturers in the UK, aims to prevent alcohol
misuse and promote sensible drinking. This is a colourful and easy-to-use site
that includes news stories, guides, support materials, a list of FAQs related
to alcohol and its potential misuse. It also provides excellent links to other
related sites.

misuse. Rather academic, but does contain information relating to research

Health Development Agency’s drug web site, gives information about the risks
and effects of drug abuse and the law.

A
charity dedicated to ensuring that children in the UK are able to deal with
drug-related issues. The site provides excellent information about the issue
and is bright and easy to navigate.

www.recovery.org.uk

Registered
UK charity for people with problems arising from misuse of drugs. A very
user-friendly site that provides excellent and straightforward background
information about all categories of drugs (including alcohol and tobacco) and
outlines their effects. It also includes a list of questions and answers which
could prove invaluable.
