Online learning initiative planned for Scotland
Scotland’s government learning body, Scottish University for Industry, is
offering e-learning to all adults over 18 years of age. More than 61,000
courses will be available from the organisation’s 100 centres across the

Learning commitment pays off for Haygarth
Haygarth Group invested over £100,000 on training last year and saw staffing
levels rise by 25 per cent. The communications group runs internal training
sessions on contract law and financial reporting. It also offers employees the
opportunity to study for industry qualifications in public relations and

R&SA staff learn customer relations via the Net
Insurance giant Royal & SunAlliance has commissioned e-learning provider
BlueU to deliver three bespoke customer relations management programmes. More
than 2,500 staff will undertake up to 35 hours of e-learning this year. www.blueu.com
Construction diploma aims to fill top-level gap
The Construction Industry Training Board has launched a management diploma
to address the sector’s supervisory skills shortage. The Diploma in
Construction Process Management is a part-time, 15-month programme consisting
of six three-day modules. It is the first scheme from the CITB’s £1.5m special

Council addresses leadership skills shortage
Nearly 1.5 million new managers will need leadership training before 2006,
according to a study by the Council for Excellence in Management Leadership. It
is urging large employers to adopt a five-step model to establish best practice
