Interims vital to smoothing way for corporate change

HR interims are becoming increasingly important to firms in setting up and
driving change programmes, according to joint research launched last week.

The survey, carried out by Personnel Today, TMP Worldwide and Salary Survey Publications,
shows that 78 per cent of firms currently use HR interims with international
experience to integrate systems and staffing structures across various
countries.

Over 60 per cent of the 1,000 companies surveyed use them on specialist
recruitment projects.

Steve French, head of HR recruitment practice at TMP Worldwide, said,
"A lot of organisations are recognising the value of interims and
realising that you can turn them on and off like a tap on discreet projects.
They provide great flexibility."

The findings on interims were part of a broader survey, which revealed that
salaries for HR directors are rising steeply.

Management, told delegates that talent management was a key issue in the City
and attacked the long hours culture. She said people who work longer hours only
do so because they are inefficient.
