Young workers at risk from RSI

RSI
is crippling the UK economy, claims the TUC.

The
union is urging employers to act to prevent repetitive strain injury. It claims
that over half of the UK’s four million employees aged between 16 and 24 work
in awkward or tiring positions.

Union
figures suggest that 65 per cent of all UK workers have jobs that involve
repetition, while for younger workers the figure is 78 per cent.

The
TUC has called on employers carry out RSI risk assessments and to identify job
areas that risk repetitive strain injury.

Employers
have also been urged to rotate the work of young staff to reduce the chances of
RSI.
