Commuters with season tickets may miss out on refunds if next week’s planned rail strike goes ahead, the Metro has reported.
Season ticket holders will be entitled to refunds only if all services on their line are cancelled. But passengers who buy a ticket for a specific train will receive a refund if it is cancelled.
London TravelWatch, the watchdog for the capital’s public transport users, called for compensation for commuters unable to get to work at “a reasonable hour”.
A representative said: “We want passengers to be compensated for any days lost. We want train companies to accept that travelling at different times of the day is not an option.”

Network Rail said one in five trains would run, but London TravelWatch said: “Running a skeleton service may not be any good – many commuters can’t get into work at midday, and trains may be too crowded to board.”
The four-day strike, by members of the RMT and TSSA unions, is over plans to cut 1,500 maintenance jobs, while increasing evening and weekend working.
