IT makes few inroads into the HR function

HR departments are failing to take on the challenge of IT with 48 per cent of HR managers still relying on manual files, according to a survey commissioned by Access Consulting.

“I am amazed that in this day and age, such a large percentage of HR managers still rely on manual systems. How can HR managers do their jobs effectively and efficiently if they don’t have the necessary management tools to do searches, comparisons and analyses?” queried Mike Head, director of Access Consulting.

The survey highlights the lack of IT support for HR managers in the workplace with 21 per cent of HR managers unhappy with the level of administration at work.

Another finding of the survey revealed that IT is not being used to aid HR processes. Only 9 per cent of HR managers confirmed that a recent cost-benefit analysis had been undertaken into whether an IT solution could link processes to other departments and improve systems.
