The Association of Healthcare Human Resource Management claims that
initiatives to recruit nurses are working despite research which indicates
staffing levels are still inadequate.

A survey by the Royal College of Nursing published last week reveals almost
two-thirds of the 6,000 responding nurses feel that staffing levels are too
low.
But Sally Storey, who is due to be replaced as AHHRM president by Tracy
Myhill at its annual conference in York tomorrow, is optimistic. She believes
recruitment drives such as Autumn Burst, the Improving Working Lives strategy
to encourage more flexible working and the Staff Involvement initiative are
having a positive effect.
