A story about highly paid roadworkers went from the ridiculous to the farcical last week when the HR professional at the eye of the storm was wrongly named as Alan Partridge.
The mistake emerged during the ongoing media furore over Birmingham City Council staff earning as much as £53,000 for painting white lines on roads and cleaning bollards.
Two national newspapers mistakenly named Alan Rudge as cheesy broadcaster Alan Partridge, played by comedian Steve Coogan. A confused council spokeswoman assured Personnel Today that it definitely did not employ Mr Partridge.
