Alstom
has launched a major overseas recruitment drive in an effort to combat skill
shortages.
The
transport and infrastructure specialist needs rail signalling engineers, and is
searching worldwide for workers.
The
company said it is focusing on recruiting from countries with similar working
practices and technologies to the UK.
Thirty
engineers have already been recruited from India – 12 seconded from Alstom
India to work and train in the UK for 12 months. Eight engineers have been
recruited from South Africa, and six from Malaysia and Singapore.
