Application Lynx provides new Oracle HR

by Personnel Today 15 Apr 2009
by Personnel Today 15 Apr 2009

The new Oracle HCM solution for Meteor Mobile Communications, a leading Irish mobile communications provider was successfully implemented by Application Lynx in January 2009.

With HR, Self Service and Discoverer Reporting in place, the project allows Meteor to improve the overall effectiveness and efficiency of its Human Resource department as a strategic business partner by consolidating its HR function.

Meteor, which has 39 stores throughout Ireland and employs over 800 staff, chose Oracle HR, Self Service and Discoverer Reporting modules to complement its existing Oracle E-Business Suite.

The solution allows Meteor to be even more responsive to business requirements and empower both management and employee end-users. The project earned the Meteor implementation team a ‘Special Merit’ internal award for the HRIS project.

Cormac Cullinan, HR Shared Services Manager, Meteor commented, ”As one of the ‘Best 50 Companies To Work For In Ireland’, Meteor prides itself on leading edge management of its human resource.

“The self service function allows staff to manage their own HR related data, thus reducing potential errors in re-entering data. It also reduces the administration burden on our HR department, allowing them to increase support to our overall business strategy in this highly competitive sector.”

The rapid implementation programme was made possible by using the ‘Accelerate’ method which offers a template-based approach. This approach enables clients to get up to speed and realise Return On Investment (ROI) faster than traditional methods.

Mark Pulling, Managing Director at Application Lynx said,

“We were very pleased that Meteor chose us to provide our cost effective HR solution. As a major company in the Irish Telecoms sector, Meteor had a very clear vision of the goals they wished to achieve and we were able to work in a very complementary manner to ensure efficient turnaround.

”The choice of these particular Oracle modules was simplified by Meteor’s existing familiarity with Oracle products, making our solution a natural extension to their current platform. “The flexibility of the solution will also enable Meteor to adapt their business needs in line with the rapidly changing business environment.”
