Norwich Union has reduced the workload of its human resources department through the introduction of an online tool to provide employees with answers to their queries.
The company said, in the four months since the online HR system was implemented, calls to its HR employee services team had fallen by 16%.
The system, known as AskHR, is the first in a suite of online HR services planned for the company’s e-HR programme.
The company claims the system, which was developed in conjunction with e-services supplier Transversal, gives HR staff more time to deal with more complex and sensitive issues.
Catherine Tausney, head of Norwich Union’s HR advice service, said 14,500 users had already accessed the service, with more that 41,500 hits registered on the website.

“With high satisfaction levels we are confident that user figures and hits to the site will continue to increase. We are really excited about the next phase of our plans, with the service being rolled out to our RAC colleagues by the end of the year,” she said.
Last year Norwich Union claimed to have saved £2.3m after outsourcing its recruitment processes.
