Best Companies is to launch the Best Places to Work in the Public Sector in association with the Sunday Times to recognise and celebrate the best workplace engagement in this sector. Registration is now open to public sector organisations with more than 50 FTE employees and will close mid-October. The best employers in the public sector will then be announced in The Sunday Times in March 2010.
Jonathan Austin, CEO and founder of Best Companies, comments:
“For ten years we have measured the best workplaces in the private sector. After having measured the best councils in the UK for two years, now for the first time all public sector organisations will also be able to compare and benchmark their status as employers.
“With 5.8 million employed in the public sector across the UK, and private sector unemployment rising, the public sector is facing more scrutiny than ever before. The Best Companies’ rankings will enable us to showcase the best practice that undoubtedly exists there and enable other organisations to focus on what needs to improve. Our research shows that there is a clear appetite within the public sector for this.”
