Pret A Manger is sending nurses on motorbikes to give its 2,200 staff free
flu jabs. The chain of specialist sandwich shops hopes the move will reduce
absenteeism during the winter months. HR director Sue Cheetham believes the
initiative will help reduce traditionally high turnover in the industry by
showing staff that the company cares about its people. "It will reduce
absence and lead to an improvement in productivity," she said. "Staff
will work that little bit harder because they will feel we are looking after
them."
