The Institute of Personnel and Development comes of age this week, matching its professional rivals in accountancy, marketing and banking by gaining a royal charter.
From 1 July the IPD is known as the CIPD – the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development – and has rebranded.

CIPD director general Geoff Armstrong said it would boost the standing and professional status of its 100,000 members.
“This provides a unique platform for the CIPD to develop its key messages to the widest range of audiences,” he said.
