Gerry Morrissey, Bectu assistant general secretary, said: “Roger fought his illness with the same courage and conviction he displayed when faced with discrimination and unfairness in the workplace. Roger will be sadly missed by his colleagues at Bectu, by workers in the audiovisual and entertainment industries, and the wider trade union movement.”
Brendan Barber, TUC general secretary, added: “Despite his struggle against cancer over a long period of time, he continued to do as much as he could to ensure that the union functioned effectively and provided the service that the members deserved.”
