The
CBI has opposed plans by the Government to prosecute employers under new
legislation banning motorists from using mobile phones while driving.
Under
the proposals an employer who ’causes or permits’ staff to use a mobile phone
while driving could be fined.
Employees
could escape a £30 fixed penalty or court-imposed fine of up to £1,000 if they
could show their employer expected them to take or make calls while driving.
