Salary
levels of employees working in the charity sector lag behind other sectors by
as much as 25 per cent, research finds.
A
junior manager working in the charity sector typically earns a median base rate
of £22,448, compared to a national average for a junior manager across all
sectors of £24,029.
The
survey of 236 organisations representing more than 50,000 UK employees by
Rewards shows that this pay gap has increased from 5.1 per cent in 2001 to 6.6
per cent last year.
The
pay gap is widest at the top end of the pay scale. A chief executive in the
charity sector earns on average £52,929, which is a quarter less than the
