Chemical transport and logistics company Odfjell has commissioned SumTotal
Systems (the company formed from the merger of Click2Learn and Docent) to build
a competency programme designed to ensure employee readiness in critical areas.
The global company’s transport fleet includes 89 ships, and it owns and
operates tank terminals and tank containers.
The Odfjell Common Competence Initiative will establish a common learning
culture for Odfjell worldwide, deliver consistent information and best practice
to all staff, and provide the necessary knowledge to do their jobs safely and
effectively. It also supports the company’s pursuit of certified Safety &
Quality Management Systems (SQMS).
"Our corporate mission is to continue developing our position as a
leading logistic service provider to the chemical industry by offering reliable
and efficient services in keeping with the highest quality, safety and
environmental standards," says Brit A Bennett, Odfjell’s vice-president of
HR.
"We expect our staff to be responsible for the quality of their work,
and to know their responsibilities and the applicable procedures to ensure no
activities are overlooked by mistake, and to contribute proactively towards
continuous quality improvements."
