The
Construction Industries’ Training Board has launched a new website as part of
its drive to attract more graduates into the industry.
The
site is a one-stop online careers and recruitment site for students who are
interested in a construction career and for employers who are looking for
graduates.
Construction
minister Brian Wilson, who officially launched the website Design a Job,
stressed the importance of improved recruitment and retention if the industry
is to recruit the estimated 80,000 employees this year that are needed to
maintain current levels.
He
said, "Every company needs to stay competitive in order to survive and
grow. That means recruiting a steady stream of new talent – bright, young
recruits who can generate new ideas, the enthusiasm and the energy to keep a
business ahead of the rest. What is different about the CITB’s website is that
the whole industry has come together to make it a one-stop-shop for graduates
considering careers in construction."
