Average basic pay for clerical occupations rose by 4.3 per cent over the
year to January 2003. A survey, Clerical and Operative Rewards, January 2003 by
Croner Reward of 7,207 clerical and operative jobs shows that clericals’ total
earnings increased by 4.5 per cent over the year, while operatives’ salaries
