Dairy Crest has announced investment at its Aintree milk bottling plant, but has also confirmed it is cutting jobs at its Kirkby site.
Following the renewal of a fresh milk contract with Sainsbury’s, Dairy Crest will invest £75m over three years in its four Aintree sites.
Chief executive Mark Allen said this would allow the company to drive further cost efficiencies, remain competitive, and maintain high levels of service to its customers.

But the group also identified “potential efficiency savings” at its Kirkby site, which employs 120 staff making the Utterly Butterly and Clover brands, reports the Liverpool Daily Post.
The number of staff affected will not be known until the end of February, when the consultation process is due to end.
