Sir
Peter Davis, chief executive of J Sainsbury plc, is to chair an employer
taskforce on pensions.
Work
and Pensions Secretary Andrew Smith announced the appointment and said the
taskforce is to play a key role in developing the employers’ role in the pensions
partnership.
Sir
Peter said the current performance of the stock market has highlighted pensions
as an important financial consideration for both employees and companies.

said: "It is increasingly necessary to work together to ensure the
appropriate pension arrangements are in place for pensioners, and for existing
and future employees.”
