The
firefighters’ union is expected to decide today (Monday) whether to call fresh
strikes in the New Year.
The
first of two further eight-day strikes is due to begin on Wednesday, but more
walk-outs could be agreed.

the Government now claims that the way the military coped shows that
firefighters’ working practices could be more effective.
