Fewer than half (46%) of UK employers have analysed the overall age structure of their workforce, a study of European countries has revealed.
But the UK fared better than its European competitors. The Demographic Fitness Index study of 2,500 European organisations, by the Adecco Institute research body, found just 22% of Spanish firms and 31% of German businesses had profiled their workforce.
The report said: “The hard part is neither design nor implementation, but rather having the courage… to tackle workforce ageing before it tackles you.”
