Discrimination against older workers going unchecked across UK

The Personnel Today online survey of 500 HR professionals asked for their views on age discrimination, changing demographics and several commonly-held beliefs about older workers.

The results here show HR practitioners believe older workers are more efficient than younger colleagues, take less sick leave, and are capable of adding value through experience.

Yet the survey also reveals a strong undercurrent of age discrimination in the UK, with a quarter of respondents feeling their organisation discriminates against older workers. Alarmingly, almost 70 per cent of HR professionals don’t think their company is preparing well enough for an ageing workforce.
