The Celtic Manor Resort in South Wales expects to save £200,000 in staff costs by using an annualised hours working system. The move is part of the resort’s preparations to cope with the anticipated surge in business generated by annual celebrity golf competitions and the Ryder Cup tournament in 2010. Staff will now work more hours during busier periods and less during quieter ones. The company estimates the savings will be made in lower staff turnover, reducing the use of temps and less time spent on paperwork.
