Edvantage group completes Learning Gateway SAML Single-Sign-On project for Telenor

by Personnel Today 4 Jan 2011

Edvantage group, Europe’s leading e-learning company, announces today that it has completed a Learning Gateway SAML (Security Assertions Markup Language) Single-Sign-On (SSO) project with their client, Telenor, the global provider of telecommunications services. The SAML SSO service improves user experience for over 34,000 employees who use Learning Gateway, Learning Management System (LMS), to develop skills and share knowledge while accelerating performance and corporate growth.

The project is the first within Telenor to use SAML, and marks an important step in fulfilling Telenor’s goal to simplify user access and identity management, also heightening data security. Edvantage group developed a rule-based Single-Sign-On web services module to interface with Telenor’s federated identification system.

With Edvantage group’s services, Telenor employees seamlessly access the corporate ‘Telenor Way’ e-learning course via Learning Gateway, without re-entering usernames and passwords.  Using the Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML), an XML-based standard for exchanging authentication and authorisation data between security domains, Edvantage group is helping Telenor achieve a more secure working environment and demonstrating its commitment to interoperability.

“It is imperative that our people around the world can easily access Learning Gateway. The easier it is to access, the more people will use the ‘Telenor Way’ course”, says Harald Folkedahl, Director of HRIT and Processes, Telenor Group.

“It’s been a pleasure to provide Telenor with Learning Gateway and SAML SSO, and we are pleased to have completed both implementation and launch,” says Jon Øivind Stenerud, Chief Technology Officer, Edvantage group. “The SAML standard is a natural choice for Edvantage group because of our service orientated approach to systems development. The demand for secure, standards-based Learning Management Systems is growing as companies look to integrate business systems, re-use data and provide users with seamless access to all types of learning within their work processes. Edvantage group is well-positioned to serve these emerging needs.”
