Manufacturers’ body the EEF is to tour the UK with conciliation body Acas to help employers understand how the forthcoming dispute resolution system will work.
Next April, a more flexible system will replace the current grievance, disciplinary and dispute system as the Employment Act 2008 comes into force.
Organisations will learn how they can use the new system to reduce employment costs, and what the new Acas Code of Practice means for business.
Under the new system, employment tribunals will have the power to increase compensation in successful claims by up to 25% for employers that do not follow the code’s recommendations.
Keynote speakers for the seminar programme include Michael Gibbons, author of the report that led to the new Act, and Acas chair Ed Sweeney.
