Employee fraud rose by 60 per cent in the first six months of this year,
according to research.
The number of fraud cases going through UK courts involving sums of more
than £100,000 rose from 32 between January and June and 2,000 to 44 for the
corresponding months of this year.

The number of fraud cases involving management dropped by 7 per cent, according
to the research by management consultancy KPMG.
The key to combating fraud lies in the recruitment process, said the
authors. Employers should ensure they have systems in place to choose reliable
staff, including following up references by speaking to the organisations that
provided them.
