More people than ever are employed, with number of people out of work now standing at 1.38 million; a fall of 109,000 over the past 12 months.
Government figures show that, in the latest quarter, the number of people in work in the UK was 28.43 million, putting unemployment at its lowest level since 1975.
Minister for work Jane Kennedy said that through continued economic stability, combined with the help on offer through Jobcentre Plus and programmes such as the New Deal, the number of people not working would continue to decline.
