In the new structure, London will have two directors, reflecting the
complexity of the skills agenda and the high number of stakeholders and
partners in the capital. Jacqui Henderson will be regional director –
responsible for a £1.4bn budget, the largest of all regions – with Verity
Bullough acting as regional operations director.
A regional skills partnership has already been established for the capital,
bringing together the five London LSCs and the London Development Agency, along
with partners such as Jobcentre Plus, Business Link and further education
colleges. Henderson said: "Clearly what we are seeking to ensure is that
every employer will have a point of contact.
"A huge challenge in London is to actively engage with employers and
work with them to support development of their own staff and make their
companies more competitive," she continued. "But we are also hoping
to convince them of the benefits of Modern Apprenticeships and employing young
people."
