The
CBI has urged the Government to abandon proposals giving parents a right to
work part time.
Publishing
its response to the Government’s work and parents green paper the CBI said that
flexible working practises should be encouraged to help parents balance work
with family responsibilities rather than legislation.
John
Cridland, deputy director general of the CBI, said, “Ministers should help
parents balance family and work responsibilities. But they need to do it by
encouraging flexible employment practises rather than by introducing
unnecessary regulations such as the right to part time work.”
