The survey revealed 64 per cent of organisations used the method, with 43 per cent linking payment to company performance and 40 per cent opting for informal assessments.
Employers remain dissatisfied with training providers, with FE colleges fairing worst.
Fourteen per cent of employers rate them as poor while 36 per cent rate them as average.
Private training providers were rated best, with five per cent saying they were poor training providers and 31 per cent rating them as average.
