The finance sector holds the widest pay gap between men and women, according
to findings from the Equal Opportunities Commission.
Research from its New Earnings Survey on full-time hourly and weekly pay,
broken down into sectors, shows the finance and banking sector has a pay gap in
weekly earnings of 43 per cent between the sexes.

Although the pay gap has actually narrowed slightly since 2002, when it
stood at 46 per cent, the current gap is still more than twice the national
