A
massive Government recruitment campaign in the North East has exceeded all
expectations – with more than 12,000 people applying to work for the civil
service.
The
Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) launched the campaign in an effort to
recruit 2,000 staff for Jobcentre Plus offices, the Child Support Agency and
the new pension service.
The
huge volume of applications were processed through a specially set-up hotline
and the department is currently sending out information packs to applicants.
