GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) is standardising its learning programme with the
installation of the Docent Enterprise Learning Management System (LMS).
This move means that any one of its 100,000 employees around the world can
access a wide range of learning options via a single online source.
Training managers can also track and manage learning requirements and
regulations through the same system. In time, it will be extended to allow GSK
suppliers to learn about the pharmaceutical and healthcare company’s business
and to its customers so they can learn about GSK’s products.

The implementation is expected to deliver financial and operational benefits
to each GSK business unit. "Companies in the life science industry are
recognising that the delivery of personalised, on-demand e-learning can play a
critical role in maintaining a competitive edge in the marketplace," says
Andy Eckert, president of Docent. "GSK will be able to quickly and
efficiently leverage its complex knowledge base to solve key business problems
on a global basis."
