Staff
at train manufacturer Alstom are set to benefit from a range of high-tech
training opportunities after the opening of a new learning centre.
The
training and development facility at the firm’s Birmingham plant will enable
1,200 staff to use some of the latest technology as well as gaining access to
the Government’s learndirect initiative.
The
centre will combine the latest computer- and web-based training with more
traditional classroom learning.
Alstom’s
vice president of rolling stock David Flynn, said: “We are determined to
provide new opportunities for learning and development for all our employees
and we can only achieve success through the collective efforts of all our
people.”
The
company launched the facility in conjunction with the Learning and Skills
Council and Matthew Boulton College following nine months of planning and
preparation.
