HR achievements to be recognised at North-East awards ceremony

by Personnel Today 12 Nov 2008
by Personnel Today 12 Nov 2008

Nominations have opened for an awards ceremony set to showcase major human resources achievements in the north-east of Scotland.

The cHeRries Awards 2009, are organised by Aberdeen-based event management company cushydoos, with Aberdeen Business School at The Robert Gordon University as title sponsor and Kudos – Employee Benefits as supporting sponsor.

The award categories and sponsors are:

  • The cHeRries Blossoming Award, Aberdeen Business School at The Robert Gordon University

  • Outstanding HR Director, Kudos – Employee Benefits

  • Excellent HR Manager, Thorpe Molloy Recruitment

  • Fantastic HR Advisor, Wood Group

  • Extraordinary Team Initiative, Source-People

  • Tremendous Training and Development, Hudson

  • Finders Keepers Recruitment & Retention, Paull and Williamsons

The cHeRries Blossoming Award aims to recognise new talent. The winner will receive full funding to complete their professional studies with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) at The Robert Gordon University.

Karen Reid, Business Development Director, cushydoos, said: “The 2009 awards follow hot on the heels of last year’s fantastic event where we celebrated some outstanding examples of HR practice.

“The cHeRries are an excellent way for organisations to recognise the efforts of the people working behind the scenes and boost staff morale. Those looking for a ‘bite of the cHeRries’ can nominate themselves, their team, or other individuals.”

The closing date for entries is February 2nd, 2009 and winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre, Aberdeen, on May 28th.

Professor Rita Marcella, Dean, Aberdeen Business School at The Robert Gordon University, said:

“We are delighted to be associated with these awards again. Last year’s event was a great success and was clearly very welcome to the HR community as a visible recognition of their contribution to organisational success.

“It’s very appropriate that Aberdeen Business School supports the awards as so many of the profession have attended the school to gain the CIPD-accredited MSc in Human Resource Management.”

Alan Fergusson, Employee Benefits Director, Kudos – Employee Benefits, said: “We work extensively with HR teams for delivery of benefit packages, and after the success of last year’s inaugural event, Kudos is delighted to support the cHeRries.”
