I wonder whether the author of your ‘might is not right’ letter has been on the receiving end of an employment dispute? (Personnel Today, 1 May) I think all HR people should have such an experience because too many of them focus on winning at all costs and without regard to the actual merits of a case.
An experience of being mown down by the corporate machinery might broaden their HR perspective and make them better practitioners in the future.
I believe that the HR profession should not forget we are dealing with people’s lives, even though it may be just another job to us.
