The
average salary of HR professionals has fallen behind that of comparable posts
in other functions, according to a survey from remuneration specialist
Reward.Â
Personnel
directors now command a median base pay of £55,000, a rise of 3.7 per cent on
last year, but 5.2 per cent below that of the same positions in other
functions, the report finds.
This
is a direct reversal of last year’s figures, which showed personnel directors
earning 3.2 per cent more than comparable posts in other professions.
The
median pay for HR professionals at middle or junior manager level is 6.8 per
cent lower than other professions.
Within
HR, compensation and benefits roles command the highest salaries. A senior
middle manager working in this area earns 17.6 per cent above more than HR
managers at the same level.
Management
development and health and safety specialists are likely to attract the lowest
wages within the profession.
