ICI is doubling the number of online courses available to staff in 55 countries through a partnership with learning provider Thomson NETg.
It is also implementing Search Now, Thomson NETg’s learning-on-demand offering. It enables learners to type in a training query and receive an instant learning activity.
In another initiative, the global company, whose brands include Dulux, Hammerite, Polycell and Polyfilla, is establishing a Friends and Family scheme. This allows up to three family members to access e-learning courses from home, free of charge.
“ICI is committed to providing all its employees with an equal opportunity to develop to their full potential, which is why we have embraced e-Learning worldwide,” said Steve Gunn, senior communications manager at National Starch & Chemical (an ICI Group company).

“The learning ensures they can perform with creativity, flexibility, and speed.”
The online courses can be accessed by more than 18,000 staff worldwide via ICI’s Learning Zone, available on the web and hosted by Thomson NETg. It is the gateway to 100 IT desktop courses and more than 350 business and professional skills courses. Employees will also be able to access the Learning Zone from home.
