IT recruitment consultancy Abraxas re-brands as Randstad Technologies

by Personnel Today 17 Feb 2010
by Personnel Today 17 Feb 2010

Abraxas, one of the UK’s leading suppliers of IT professionals, has re-branded as Randstad Technologies. Randstad Technologies provides contract and permanent IT candidates to public and private organisations of all sizes across the UK.

The move underlines the fact that the company is part of the Randstad Group, the world’s second largest HR services company and one of the UK’s leading professional recruitment organisations.

Rod Jackson, managing director of Randstad Technologies, said: “Becoming Randstad Technologies is an important step in Abraxas’s evolution. Randstad is a highly regarded brand and all Randstad companies share the group’s world class service ethic and unparalleled expertise and experience in professional recruitment.”

The re-brand comes as Randstad Technologies reports that the demand for IT professionals is increasing as the UK claws its way out of recession.

According to the company, demand is particularly strong for project managers and programme managers to work within financial institutions. IT professionals with iPhone development skills are also highly sought after at present.

Randstad Technologies reports that currently the most commonly requested job roles are:

  • Project manager

  • Programme manager

  • Business analyst

  • Software developer (in various categories e.g. iPhone, .Net, Java)

  • SharePoint developer

  • Test manager and test analyst

  • Service desk analyst

Rod Jackson comments: “IT recruitment has been badly hit by the recession as many large projects have been cancelled or put on hold. We are now seeing an improvement in the number of both contract and permanent positions. This is particularly so in the banking sector where some of the major institutions are working on integration projects.”

“Additionally, with companies increasingly looking to gain a presence on smart phones such as the iPhone, those with the skills to develop applications for these technologies are in high demand.”

Randstad Technologies was founded in 1974 and specialises in a range of sectors including banking and finance, public sector, life sciences, development and infrastructure. It has been consistently rated in the top 5 of Recruiter magazine’s annual ‘Hot 100’ UK recruitment firms.
