The REC’s Institute of Recruitment Professionals (IRP), the vibrant new body representing individuals working within the recruitment industry, is expanding its services further this year to meet the growing needs and demands of the modern-day HR Manager.
On the 24 June 2009, the Institute of Recruitment Professionals replaced the Individual Membership of the REC. The core purpose of the Institute is to advance the practice and standards of the recruitment profession delivering a range of offerings to the individual recruiter.
The IRP is going nationwide with every area of the UK represented by a team of IRP Regional Directors who will act as local ambassadors to promote and champion resourcing, recruitment and talent management followed by a series of nationwide events where members can meet to exchange ideas.
2010 has started with the launch of an extensive lifestyle benefits package, a dedicated package available to all IRP members offering significant discounts from over 500 lifestyle brands.
A Career Routeway product will be launched to help members determine into which specific recruitment industry roles their skills and talents would best be suited, and will include psychometric testing delivered through the IRP website.
Anita Holbrow, Director of the IRP, said: “We have come a long way in just over six months in which time we have staged a memorable awards ceremony last November attended by more than 330 people and extended our network of IRP Regional Directors to cover every corner of the UK.”

David Tait, an MIRP DipRP member at Keillar Resourcing in Scotland, endorsed “Having completed my Diploma in Recruitment Practice and as an IRP member, I was delighted to be able to demonstrate added value to my client when I was pitching for a large retained mandate. The exams and membership are not just ‘nice to haves’ they are ‘must haves’ and instil confidence in your clients. They know they are dealing with industry professionals and all this gives you that extra edge when you pitch for new business.”
