Jaguar
car workers are to be balloted on strike action following Ford’s decision to
halt production at the Brown’s Lane site in Coventry.
The
decision was taken after a series of meetings between union officials and shopfloor workers. Unions said there
was an "overwhelming" vote to oppose management’s plans.
Last
week, parent company Ford announced plans to stop production at the plant in a
move that will lead to more than 1,000 job losses.
The
union has accused Ford of failing to honour agreements about the security of
the factory.
