Jersey Electricity Company invite Bowland Solutions to improve annual performance appraisal process

by Personnel Today 16 Jul 2008
by Personnel Today 16 Jul 2008

In an effort to create a more efficient and effective annual performance appraisal process, Jersey Electricity Company have enlisted the help of Bowland Solutions to create a tailored, web-based performance appraisal system in support of their 320 employees.

Working from their existing paper-based process, the first step will be to create an on-line version of their appraisal form which has a competency-based assessment at the heart of it.

Employees range across Head Office, Retail and Field locations, with a great variety of role-specific technical competencies as well core competencies to be incorporated into the form; these different competencies will need to be correctly presented to the individual when they log-in.

In addition, the process will capture traditional appraisal data, such as objectives review, setting future goals and defining personal development needs.

For the latter, identified training needs will be rolled into the ‘Personal Development Plan’ with structured training programmes selected from their own bespoke drop-down list of training modules.

A group reporting function will also allow the organisation to view useful management information, such as aggregated results across different demographic groupings.

John Rice, Sales & Marketing Director of Bowland Solutions, adds:

“We are very pleased to be working with Jersey Electricity Company; they have some great ideas as to how they want their own tailored system to work for all employees, so we are looking forward to meeting their exact needs.”

Established in April 1924, the Jersey Electricity Company, today, is a £75 million turnover business and is the sole distributor of electricity on the Island of Jersey.

Bowland Solutions has been providing tailored on-line Performance Reviews, 360 Degree Feedback, Surveys and HR consultancy since 2001. Its directors have extensive experience within Learning & Development, IT and Performance Management, offering clients practical advice and robust system solutions.
