Demand for staff continued to grow in February, reflected by an increase in staff appointments, according to the latest Report on Jobs.
The Vacancies Index, in the monthly survey by consultancy Deloitte and the REC, indicates a marked rise in the demand for staff.
Recruitment consultancies reported increased demand on the previous month for all the main types of permanent staff in February. Permanent executive/professional staff experienced the most demand, followed by engineering and construction staff and accounting and financial staff.
Similarly, demand for temporary staff rose across the board as well, with secretarial/clerical staff experiencing the most, followed by engineering and construction staff, and blue-collar employees.
Recruitment advertising in the UK national press increased by 4.4% on the same period a year earlier in January, and the Press Recruitment Advertising Index showed an increase in the annual rate of growth since the previous month.
