‘Jobsanta’ promises season of good cheer for jobseekers

Jobcentre Plus has unveiled its top 12 jobs for Christmas, with Father Christmas topping the bill and Mother Christmas following close behind – although this has yet to lead to claims of gender discrimination.

Thousands of seasonal jobs are available at Jobcentres and the Government hopes to promote short-term or festive roles as a way of getting the unemployed back into full-time work.

David Anderson, chief executive of Jobcentre Plus, said: “The festive months offer a whole host of job vacancies, making now a fantastic time of the year to look for new work.”

The 12 jobs of Christmas from Jobcentre Plus are:

1. Father Christmas

2. Mother Christmas

3. Christmas tree decorators

4. Christmas tree salespeople

5. Christmas gift wrappers

6. Christmas decoration packers

7. Santa’s helpers

8. Christmas hamper packers

9. Christmas card sorters

10. Christmas pudding makers

11. Pantomime players

12. Christmas party host
