Labour’s Business Manifesto commits the party to deregulating "where
desirable" under the new Regulatory Reform Act.
Prime Minister Tony Blair launched the manifesto last week, claiming new
regulations would have a time limit on their duration "where
appropriate".
The manifesto also pledges to modernise health and safety at work, although
details are scant.
It promises to strengthen the independence of the competition authorities,
make them more proactive and give them "a clear remit to champion competition".
