Staff
at the British Library are striking today over the annual pay increase, after
nearly 1,000 staff members rejected a 4 per cent pay offer made by the
employer. Â
The
strike will close library reading rooms at St Pancras, Colindale and Boston Spa
and will severely disrupt other library operations.
Library
assistants are set to strike until Thursday.

The
Public Commercial Service union’s national officer Terry Adams, said,
"This pay increase is an insult to our members and the valuable work that
they do. Management should end this dispute by making an offer that addresses
the issue of low pay among PCS members and properly rewards them for their hard
work."
